Nurses at Brown County Regional HealthCare are being honored with The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses.
Ellen Moore was the DAISY Award winner for the month of July. Ms. Moore graduated from Maysville Community College Nursing Program in 1982. She was hired right after graduation in May of 1982 to work for Brown County Regional HealthCARE. Ms. Moore has always worked in the Med/Surg and Critical Care Units. She is a Registered Nurse who worksas a charge nurse and she has worked as night shift supervisor. Ms. Moore is very well liked and respected by her co-workers and physicians. She has two daughters, one grandson and a new grandchild on the way.
Ms. Moore was nominated for this award by Ms. Marilyn McDonough, Director of Quality for Brown County Regional HealthCARE. In the nomination Ms. McDonough stated:
“Ellen received a patient from the medical floor into the Critical Care Unit who was quickly deteriorating. She worked quickly with the physician to stabilize the patient and transfer to Medical Intensive Care at University of Cincinnati. The patient’s daughter was very pleased with the nursing care and appreciated the quick response on transferring her mother. I have observed Ellen to be a confident expert Critical Care nurse. She always appears to be steady, calm and efficient in delivering care. I observed her one day speaking with a family on what to expect when they saw their loved one in the Critical Care Unit. In addition to preparing them, at the same time she gave hope because she made it clear that it was not unusual for patients to look this way when critically ill. She mixes highly technical care with empathy and compassion for families. Dr. Williams, Chief of Medical Staff stated: Ellen is an excellent nurse. I greatly appreciate and rely upon her tremendous knowledge and abilities. She is constantly pleasant, kind, and compassionate to her patients and her coworkers. She is obviously deeply devoted to providing for all her patient’s needs. I am thankful and proud that BCGH has nurses the caliber of Ellen and I personally want to thank her for the wonderful care she has always provided to our patients.”
