Introducing the Daisy Foundation Award
Brown County Regional HealthCare is pleased to announce a new program to recognize Nurses who exemplify the kind of nurse that patients, families of patients, nurses, physicians, and other members of the health care community consider an outstanding role model. We are able to provide this recognition program through the generosity of The Daisy Foundation.

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) FOUNDATION was formed in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Pupura (ITP). ITP is an auto-immune disease in which the body - for no explainable reason - creates antibodies that destroy its own platelets ( the blood cells responsible for clotting of blood). It was the dedication of the nurses who cared for Patrick during his illness that inspired his family and friends to establish a foundation in his honor. For more information on the Foundation, please visit their website at: www.daisyfoundation.org

Since its inception, the DAISY FOUNDATION's mission has been to improve the treatment and care of ITP and other auto-immune diseased patients and their families through funding medical research and inspiring humanitarian deeds. In addition, the foundation seeks to recognize nurses around the country who make a difference in nursing by exhibiting exceptional patient care.

Over 50 medical facilities nationwide are participating in the DAISY Award Program. and we are proud to join them in support of this award. Awardees must be RN's or LPN's employed by Brown County Regional HealthCare.

  • have "patient centeredness" which is consistent focus on meeting patient and family needs
